iOS Notes from 2024 (part 1)

Year 5 of the almost poetry series.

01/08 This year.

I shall seek more clarity in my mind. Less concern about other people. Less heartache when they sever ties. They have their reasons and it should not bother me since they are not in close proximity.

01/09 This is my color.

Or is it? Lisod kaayo magtype. Pero keribells ra. It takes getting used tol. Magmove na ka sa imong laptop.

01/14 Spotify, please

For the next #SpotifyWrapped could you please change it to new stats like Most Added Song (out of all the playlists I that created) and Most Played Playlist. Not sure of my grammar but you geddit.

01/14 Why did I make this playlist?

Wondering in the bunkers, two days later.

01/14

Yo no enamorado.

01/14 Arroz lake. Over the years.

01/14 GTA

I think I might actually like Grand Theft Auto’s soundtrack. Creo que lang gyud ha.

01/15 TIL nascent

01/15 Actually, if you truly listened carefully, you’ll see.

When we think, why can we ā€œpictureā€ it and ā€œhearā€ and quite possibly ā€œfeelā€ it but not ā€œsmellā€ it. Like it has to be in close proximity to validate a thought that what you’re smelling could actually be something.

01/16 The colors in both photos matched!

Also, when you have an idea that you think is cool, do you:

  1. send it to a loved one?
  2. write it in a note?

01/16 What on earth am I talking about here? lol

Make a reel based on this timestamp. Like life in Malaysia

If the milk is good, the butter would also be good! Why’d no one tell me it’s so easy to make butter? 🧈

01/17 Oh my god. Belgian chocolates.

Tastes like home, but new.

01/23 I sometimes wonder

if people see me as a terrible person because I end up being let go most of the time.

Are you my parallel uni version? Your album names are so right on and your songs open a set of jigsaw. Playlist.

01/25 New fear unlocked: As Bestas

01/26 What an interesting piece of job haha

01/27 I’m quite pleased with this.

01/28 Amelie

If they ever counted how many songs I’ve added in different playlists in a day, doodles I’ve done in a week, flashes of images of people in my head every 15 minutes, the times I spaced out or totally blinked. It’d going to be like that of the trailer of Amelie.

01/27 Coworking Space.

How about a ā€œcoworking spaceā€ at the police station for online market sale exchanges? Everyone would feel a lot safer with that no?

But then again…

01/27 In our house..

we don’t see car traffic al fondo magnificent sunsets like the view I had in Vista Damai. In here, there’s just a steady flow of airplanes passing through, it’s beautiful.

01/30 Redacted

Soo.. my blog email when redacted looks a lot like wtf.

02/02 Rough Guides

Got in the mail today the 3rd travel book to complete a @roughguides collection of every country that my housemate @bboidagasuan and I lived in. This has been a plan since our first home in Barcelona in 2022—-it is to bookmark šŸ”– with a photo every place we have a memory of with friends, moments, career or family.

I’ve so far created a placeholder for the relevant pages (which you can find in the b&w photo here) but it’s the picking of material to print to ā€œmemoriesā€ with that I’m having difficulty of deciding. Let us see how this project unfolds this year. :)

02/03 Stage Manager

I wonder if the creator/ideator(?) of the Apple’s Stage Manager felt strongly that this view and layout is the future of multi-PC familiarity. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

02/05 A Filipino Tour Guide

Someone really should register a legit business catering to Filipino families who wish to travel in Spain with a designated driver just how we’d do it in Luzon.

02/05 Cheers!

Only one hit. šŸ»

02/05 Taste

I’ve had a taste of freedom, and it’s so difficult to stay in one place after that one.

02/06 Photos

Trips that produce great vacation photos usually become the best ones when you talk about to people. Photos matter it seems.

I also think I’m a better party planner than a tour guide. I like walking in peace.

I think genuinely, even from deep within, I am also a very social person because I also like looking at what my friends are listening to in Spotify’s Friend Activity. It gives me pleasure listening to new songs and learning what type of songs they like. The world is so interesting.

02/07 Distance

Today’s probably a good time to keep track of people you still communicate with after moving continents šŸŒ

02/08 Sibs

As I grow older, and more settled, reality creeps up to me more and more: that my relationship with my siblings is not strong at all. This I didn’t give any attention to over the years. I was so hell bent focused on my career and travels I never bothered to look. But I see it now, and it makes me wonder if it’s a bit sad to realize that.

02/12 What I Did For Love

Do you also feel like your life is in a movie or that you are living a movie? I feel that sometimes, especially on a warm, blue-skied day with a plane approaching my direction on the horizon, and I see a plant, a book, an iPad and this song was playing. And I have a love who loves me back.

How interesting what fortune cookies from years past would be tell. Very appropriate for my current situation since moving continents. I think us in Asia are so spoilt with good weather that we tend to disregard its value. Here in the EU, they have months where it’s too cold to swim and so you go to the mountains to hike. Every person take turns in soaking up nature. Something along the lines of: The beach bum will avoid the ocean during fall and winter. Instead, they will bundle up with warm clothes for a hike in the hills. This gives the ocean some chance to breathe, while the trails are littered with hikers. For the brave at heart, they will come in wetsuits to surf during winter. This is usually the time they are done with their big projects in terms of climbing. It will be too cold to hike the Himalayas right now, so one guy says. Besides, with no tourists to manage, they can enjoy the whole sea to themselves. Cross-country skiing would be way too good by that time too! And the instahikers you would find in those types of mountains during winter would be no hay ninguna.

03/19 Spooting Kaayo

I love how the elderly here in Valencia seem to make sure their shoes šŸ‘ž are clean and shiny when they go out.

03/20

When @bboidagasuan decided to move to ValĆØncia from Barcelona, my only knowledge of the place was how it ranked Top 3 in best cities to live year-on-year. Suffice to say marketing campaigns wooed us over. He was alone last year during the #fallas festival because my residence visa application got holed up at the consulate. He sent numerous videos of falla (the giant paper machĆ© efigies) and the cremĆ  (the burning of the artwork) but I never fully understood its scale until I experienced it in the past two weeks. A year of preparation to create the monstrosity, and 4 days to view before it’s gone forever–in flames. No same falla is designed each year, that’s what makes it special. What a tradition to the welcoming of spring! With his Pentax and 50mm lens, I shot every single detail of las fallas. I thought I could sift through them today, but I took almost 300 šŸ˜‚ so perhaps I’ll upload it in YouTube over the weekend. šŸ“¼ https://youtube.com/@cstpimentel There are plenty of cremĆ  burning šŸ”„ sites all over the province of Valencia. I picked the one in my barrio last night (see last video in this post). The 15 minute vid is up in YT if you would like to see how they do it. En fin, vivan las fallas, y por muchos aƱos! šŸŠ

04/01 Another form of freedom

One other way to say I have absolute freedom is when I have a Macbook where I have my own login, the device is all mine, with my files intact, I work around its storage just as I please with no one to answer to.

04/04 Amunt!

04/04 #relationshops

Everyone’s other foot is always left outside the door.

04/04 Serendipity

Sometimes, you think you found a soulmate simply by looking at their Drivers License and seeing your birth dates fall only one day apart. Sometimes, it’s about finding that one photo in their instagram feed, or that one time you attended a conference in Hong Kong and he was there too, maybe you saw him, maybe you didn’t—but the idea fascinates you. Armed with a couple of what ifs and what-could-have-beens flood the inner goings in your head. And you fixate on that idea until it hurts too much, until it consumes you, until you never find anyone else because you don’t bother looking–just latched on to the idea of serendipity. It is stupid, and yet here you are.

04/04 Another IPA

Unnecessary melancholia.

04/04 Hay Pinas

Looking at the world right now, I don’t think I can survive being a senator in the Philippines. There’s so much pain involved to fight for what is right and just for our people. It hurts just realizing this.

04/04 Men and Food

There are certain types of food you would associate with men, and here’s a few of mine:

Paulo - 2 piece chicken, 2 piece burger steak (shared/split) Herson - adobo with patatas Biboy - halang-halang Titoy - regular yum Henry - anything good at the carenderia Bo - always a takeout

04/05 Marketing One’s Self

I think deep inside I dread getting another corporate job. I feel like all these job hunting efforts were half-baked because I don’t think I truly wish to go back working for money. I think I want more meaning to my life, working on sustainability, on renewable energy. And that I will expect to accept nothing less. At times, I think of trying the off-grid life just to prove a point to myself that I really am tired of marketing one’s self out there. Maybe at the end of all this, I’ll become an entrepreneur. A role I dread having.

04/06 Fetty’s Team

I truly understand the woes of our video editors now that I’ve started editing videos me self. 🄺 If I ever became a video editor I would look for clients who have experience in editing vlogs because man it’s hard work to just sort through random shit looking for incriminating audio and editing the transitions etc. It’s making me dizzy. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Does the wholeness of a digital file lose bit by bit the more you transfer it? Por ejemplo: SD to MacBook through a usb card reader, from MacBook to iPad and though a usb cable, from iPad to iMac via usbc cable, and then from iMac to iPad (otra vez) via iTunes and cable, and now it’s still exporting a Falles 2024 iMovie and mucha tiempo pasado ya.

04/10 Life Content Updates

Think about it: instagram and twitter have an equally fair share of life update content! (šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøor should we call it like the not-so-old-times blogging) Instagram takes photos, memes and reels. Meanwhile, Twitter can handle links, voice, Live and text. What else did I forget?

04/24 Cartas Philippinensis: The Only Playable Tarot Cards With Philippine Themes

“Saul HofleƱa Jr’s opus, Cartas Philippinensis, with images by artist Guy Custodio, is a set of Tarot cards that reflects an esoteric religiosity. The cards are glimpses of the syneretism of the Catholic Faith which when fused with the forces of nature, enrich and balance what is sacred to the Filipino people and bring to the fore a Spanish identity rooted in Christian tradition.” Published 2016 Box set of 22 Illustrated Cards & a 110-page Guide Book

06/23 Outdoor Activities

My interests in outdoor activities keep leveling up. It first started with motocross, I dated a local rider who competes and felt the rush riding. Then it led to hitch hiking at the back of sugar cane delivery trucks, my first college boyfriend and his brother would do this often if not carpooling more than capacity on the way to other cities. And the roadtrips continued with the fraternity leader I saw for a while.

After uni, I mellowed down a bit, pursued some freelance journalism since I dated a writer. He played ball, but it wasn’t really my thing. And then I joined weekend climbing groups, this is thanks to the next ex boyfriend whose older brother invited us to attend. One weekend led to another, and it eventually led to a breakup—mainly because our interests were no longer aligned.

Post breakup I climbed and joined fun runs. I ran in the morning on my way to work, saying hi to colleagues in the carpark around 6 to 7am. Took a shower at the gym in the office, clocked out at 5 and would spend an hour at the gym again before running back to the house. They must have thought I was going bananas, but this internal hype went on for a few months. And I also kept climbing in the weekends. Met strangers every week in camp.

Camping. I think this interest is a product of my family’s upbringing. Me and my siblings have vivid memories of trips to relatives homes in far flung towns. Mostly with lakes and beach houses. The most fun one is the family compound in Balingasag and Lanao, where our muslim cousins reside. They had a beautiful place and we would swim for hours at the beach. Have live music from my dad and uncles who plays the guitar while the aunts are cooking delicious meals that would feed an entire barangay. That’s core memory material. And then along came Biboy. Solid love for hiking. Surfing a veces. Bien en ajedrez. Camping tambien. And joined me in on rock climbing too! And quite recently - sailing. What’s next?
